The Industrial Services division of Deborah
Services Limited (DSL) is pleased to announce they have achieved
3 million man hours without loss of time through accidents
from September 2008 to July 2010 across all of their petrochemical,
power generation, nuclear power and pharmaceutical sites within
the UK and Ireland.
3 million man hours equates to 125,000 days
or 342.5 years. On a practical level, if this number of hours
had been lost due to accidents, it would have required an
additional workforce of over 500 people to make up for the
shortfall.
Avoiding the need for this additional, often
expensive temporary labour, means that DSL clients benefit
from a much more stable workforce that have an assured level
of skills. Ultimately that means much better service along
with excellent value for money.
This exceptional safety record has been achieved
through a clear expectation set from the DSL board of Directors
and senior management with regards to Safety, Health, Environmental,
Quality and Training (SHEQT).
‘‘This achievement would have
not been possible without the expertise along with the commitment
from all our site managers and site teams’’, said
Chris Foulkes, Divisional Director of Industrial Services
at DSL. ‘’All onsite staff have maintained a high
standard of the SHEQT performance and I am confident that
all onsite teams will continue this excellent work as one
accident is one accident too many’’.
Steve Flounders, MD of Deborah Services Limited,
said, ‘’Achieving 3 million man hours without
lost time across all industrial services sites is a major
achievement for the company and demonstrates the high standard
set by the Directors and senior management of DSL. I would
like to congratulate all our staff who have worked so hard
to achieve this safety milestone. Through the continuing support
from the DSL board of Directors, senior management team and
onsite staff I am positive that these results can continue
for the business’’.
DSL is committed to the safety and wellbeing
of all its employees, customers, the public and the environment.
It has been awarded a Royal Society for the Prevention of
Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Occupational
Health & Safety.
