Deborah Services team at Sizewell have erected
over 180 tonnes of scaffolding to provide access for the removal
of the lagging from the reactors top-ducts and A-cells. The
project was completed to time and under budget in four phases:
access, cladding removal, material analysis and final stripping.
In practice this was a fairly complex task.
Under the top layer of galvanised steel cladding, the lagging
comprised of man made mineral fibres, calcium silicate lock
insulation, amosite asbestos block insulation and asbestos
twine.
Our work on the Sizewell A contract has been
rewarded by achieving an ICSRS Audit Certificate (International
Contractors Safety Rating System). This award was presented
to us by senior British Nuclear Group management on the 3rd
May 2007. The certificate recognises that our loss control
management system development is maintained at a high level.
Praise is due not only to our Contract Manager
Steve Woolley and his team at Sizewell, but the support they
receive from our Head Office based safety team.
